Kelowna man gets two years for possessing images of sexually assaulted children
A man was sentenced to two years in jail after being convicted of possession of child pornography following an investigation by Kelowna RCMP’s Integrated Child Exploitation Unit. Aaron James Paul pleaded guilty to possession of child sexual assault material and was sentenced to two years in jail, conditions for 10 years, and a lifetime on the National Sex Offender Registry on Feb. 14, 2024. Paul was originally sentenced to a two-year conditional sentence order for possessing child pornography on Feb. 16, 2023, according to a press release from RCMP.   The conditions of Paul’s sentence included house arrest and not to possess similar material. Kelowna RCMP ICE Unit executed a search warrant on Paul’s home on April 5, 2023, where it found more evidence that supported additional charges of possession of child sexual abuse materials. RCMP arrested Paul for breaching the conditions of his sentence. “Our ICE investigators remain dedicated in their pursuit of maintaining a safe community by holding those accountable who choose to exploit children of all our communities” non-commissioned officer from the Vulnerable Persons Unit Cpl. Tim Russell said in the release. To contact a reporter for this story, email Jesse Tomas mailto:jtomas@infonews.ca  or call 250-488-3065 or email the editor mailto:news@infonews.ca .
