Man arrested and charged in Kamloops stabbing

The man who allegedly stabbed a woman in Kamloops earlier this week has been charged with aggravated assault.

Police are holding 39-year-old Lewis Gabriel August from Kamloops in custody until his court date on March 21, according to an RCMP press release.

August was arrested “quickly” after police arrived at the 1300-block of Columbia Street on March 15. Officers were first alerted of a man armed with a large knife around 5:15 p.m., and on their way to the scene, they learned that somebody had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, officers found a woman with serious injuries and immediately began emergency first aid. She was taken to hospital and is now in stable condition.
