North Okanagan man plans to pay off mortgage with $88,000 lottery win

Enderby resident David Strain won $88,533.20 after matching five out of six numbers on a Lotto 6/49 draw.

Strain bought and checked the ticket from the Feb. 22 draw at Charlie’s Grocery in Vernon and “couldn’t believe it” when he found out he had won, according to a B.C. Lottery Corporation media release issued today, March 20.

“When I gave my ticket to the employee I was thinking it probably wasn’t real but I figured I’d wait and see,” Strain said in the release. “I was pretty excited.”

Strain plans to pay down his mortgage with his prize and will gift some of the money to his kids and grandchildren.

“I’m very pleased and excited to win," he said. "I’m trying to figure out the best way to handle it but it’s a big relief."

Here are the winning numbers from the 6/49 draw on Feb. 22.
