Penticton RCMP investigating shooting of downtown business

This weekend, shots were fired at a downtown Penticton business and police are asking for anyone who witnessed the event or has footage of it to come forward.

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., Dec. 19, police officers responded to reports of a shooting at Wicked Electrics at 358 Main Street. The front of the business was shot multiple times by a gun, according to a Penticton RCMP press release.

The store was closed at the time and no customers were inside at the time.

Investigators are asking any witnesses or anyone with surveillance cameras or dash cams to check for suspicious persons or vehicles in the downtown core during this time and contact the Penticton RCMP with file number 2021-20909.

"We are very concerned about this type of criminal activity in our downtown core, and have engaged several investigative sections," says Const. James Grandy, with the Penticton RCMP, in the press release. "Even though this incident occurred in a public space, we believe this incident was targeted, and don't believe there is an increased risk to the public."
