RCMP on lookout for suspect and getaway vehicle after armed robbery in Vernon

Police in Vernon are on the hunt for a suspect and a getaway vehicle following an armed robbery at a downtown business this morning.

A man entered a business in the 4300 block of 32nd Street around 9:45 a.m. today , March 1, and demanded cash after producing a firearm, according to a press release from the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP. Police do not identify the business.

Before police arrived the suspect fled the scene in a four-door, light coloured Mazda 626 – or a similar model – believed to be from 1998 to 2002.

Police are hoping the public can help locate the vehicle but are urging anyone who sees the suspect vehicle to not approach it, but rather call 9-1-1 immediately.
