Spooky pumpkin walk returns to Okanagan

A popular walk that gives Okanagan residents a chance to show off their pumpkin carving skills for prizes is returning for another year.

Last year, thousands of people flocked to the Regional District of Central Okanagan’s Spooktacular Pumpkin Walk in Mission Creek Regional Park.

It was the most well-attended event the district has ever seen, in part due to residents itching to get outside amid the pandemic.

The annual event calls for pumpkin carvers to drop off their creations before the walk, where they’re displayed and walkers vote to decide who has the scariest, most original, cutest, strangest, and funniest pumpkins.

Residents are encouraged to drop-off their pumpkins at the Leckie Road entrance to park, Oct. 29, between 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Make sure to include an LED light in the jack-o-lantern.

Pumpkins that aren’t picked up at the end of the night will be given to local chicken farmers, according to the regional district.

The regional district is also encouraging residents to dress up for the pumpkin walk.

More information on the event can be found on the regional district’s Facebook page
