Suspect arrested after assault on Kamloops's North Shore

One man is in custody after an assault with weapons in Kamloops this afternoon.

Police were called to Parkcrest Avenue when witnesses saw a man being assaulted around 1:20 p.m. today, Oct. 13, but a suspect fled in a white truck as they arrived, according to an RCMP media release.

Multiple units searched the area until Kamloops RCMP found the truck at a home on Glenview Avenue. Police found a firearm inside the unoccupied truck and arrested a man inside a nearby house.

“This investigation is still in its very early stages and a large police presence remains on scene at this time,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

Although police found a gun inside the white truck, police did not detail the nature of the assault, including whether a firearm was used. Police also did not detail what injuries the victim sustained.

“The public is asked to please avoid the area while police continue their efforts and to contact the Kamloops RCMP if they have any information that may be helpful," Evelyn said.

Anyone with video, dash cam footage, or information related to this investigation is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-36694.
