The Kelowna RCMP is investigating a "suspicious" fire that began in a garage on Pandosy Street last night.

At roughly 10:30 p.m., the Kelowna Fire Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting a garage on fire near Pandosy Street and Cadder Avenue.

The first firefighers on scene found a double-detached garage on fire in the alley behind the 2000 block of Pandosy St., according to a press release issued by platoon captain John Kelly.

The fire started on the exterior wall of the garage and had already spread up the wall to the soffit, causing structural damage to the wall and roof area, he said in the news release.

The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters who then entered the garage to ensure everything was out. Some of the contents in the garage were also consumed by the fire.

The RCMP is investigating as the fire is suspicious in nature, he said.

The fire department responded with three engines, a rescue unit and command vehicle.
