Two dead in semi crash on Trans-Canada in Shuswap
Two semi trucks collided on Highway 1 north of Salmon Arm last night and the driver and passenger in one of the trucks were killed. The driver of a semi travelling eastbound on the Trans-Canada near Sorrento failed to make a right hand turn and flipped the truck and trailer onto its side in the oncoming lane, according to an RCMP media release. The driver of a semi travelling westbound couldn’t top in time and hit the flipped rig. RCMP say both the driver and the passenger in the flipped semi were pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the oncoming truck suffered minor injuries. RCMP don't identify the people killed. DriveBC says expect minor delays about 12 kilometres east of Chase between Little River Road and Lindburg Road as a result of last night's crash. As the investigation continues, police are looking for witnesses and dash cam video of the crash. If you can help you're asked to call Chase RCMP at 250-679-3221.
