The man who allegedly brought a knife and sledgehammer with him to the Village of Keremeos's municipal building before attacking staffers may not be criminally responsible for his actions.
Cameron Edward Jake Urquhart, born 1979, is facing 14 charges related to the incident on Jan. 24. His matter was before the court this afternoon in Penticton.
Urquhart was not present in court but his lawyer and the prosecutor agreed that further psychological assessment is necessary to determine if he may be exempt from criminal responsibility. A publication ban was imposed to prevent any other details from being published about today’s proceedings.
A previous assessment found that he is not fit to stand trial.

His matter will return to court on April 19.
In January the RCMP said Urquhart was brandishing a knife and sledgehammer during the incident but neither weapon were used in the assaults. Injuries were described as relatively minor.
