Armed Kamloops woman caught in stolen car in Armstrong
Police seized illegal firearms when a 31-year-old Kamloops woman was arrested in a stolen vehicle in Armstrong on the weekend. An RCMP officer saw a suspicious vehicle with the engine running in a parking lot in the 3100-block of Smith Drive in Armstrong around 4 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, according to an RCMP media release. Officers ran the license plate and discovered the vehicle had been stolen from another jurisdiction the day before, RCMP said.  When the Mounties arrested the woman in the car they searched it and found several illegal guns, including a handgun, and ammunition. The Kamloops woman is currently in custody on several charges including possession of stolen property and firearms related offences, and police are still investigating. “Conducting traffic stops with a stolen vehicle is high-risk for our police officers,” Vernon North Okanagan RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Tania Finn said in the release. “It is never known what our officers will encounter and it is very fortunate for everyone involved that the driver decided to cooperate with police.” To contact a reporter for this story, email Jesse Tomas mailto:jtomas@infonews.ca  or call 250-488-3065 or email the editor mailto:news@infonews.ca .
