Cops use Narcan to save a life in downtown Kelowna

A pair of officers patrolling downtown Kelowna were in the right place at the right time to help save a person in medical distress yesterday afternoon.

The officers were flagged down by employees with a community outreach support centre who were providing first aid to a man at the intersection of Coronation Avenue and St. Paul Street at around 2:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, according to an RCMP media release.

RCMP do not identify the community outreach support centre.

The officers took over the chest compressions and administered two doses of Narcan nasal spray in the belief the man was overdosing.

The man began to breathe on his own and regained consciousness. He was taken to hospital by ambulance paramedics.

No word from police on the man’s current condition.
