'Every dollar counts': Okanagan resorts offer luxury stays in Ukrainian fundraiser

Okanagan businesses are offering up big prizes for a silent auction, and proceeds will be supplying Ukrainians with more tools to fend off the Russian invasion.

The Ukrainian Canadian Volunteers Association is raising money with the Kelowna Fundraiser for Ukrainians in Need with an online silent auction.

The money will be used to supply volunteers, and those who serve in territorial defence forces in Ukraine, with items like night vision devices, drones, bulletproof vests and radios, according to Svitlana Shkyn who is co-ordinating the fundraiser.

Bidding opportunities include stays at destinations like Big White Ski Resort near Kelowna, the Penticton Lakeside Resort and Walnut Beach Resort in Osoyoos. Some of the other items include gift cards for spin classes, laser hair removal and a photoshoot with Anna Johnson Photography.

“Every dollar counts,” Shkyn said in a written statement. “Every hour matters as it could save our friends, brothers and dad’s lives.”
