A much-needed 24-hour emergency veterinary clinic has opened its doors in Kamloops after almost two years in development.
Phases Veterinary Emergency Hospital opened at 8 a.m. today, Feb. 8.
The clinic was created by the same two veterinarians that own Neighbourhood Veterinary Hospital in Kamloops, Dr. Adrian Helmers and Dr. Megan Broschak.
Several veterinary clinics currently rotate through an emergency on-call group for pets and sometimes Kamloops residents with pets in need of emergency care have to leave the city for help when there isn’t room.
One intention for the 24-hour emergency clinic is to alleviate the pressure on local clinics, while another is to attract more veterinarians to the area
