Historical objects stolen from North Okanagan Mackie Lake House

Numerous historical items, including a more than 120-year-old urn, have been stolen from a popular Coldstream historical destination.

The Mackie Lake House was broken into on Saturday night, according to a Facebook post from the non-profit Mackie Lake House Foundation.

“Several artifacts were stolen and we are working now to recover them. If you can share this post and keep an eye out if you see items on marketplace, online auctions, or in pawnshops, we would be very grateful. We will update with more photographs as we track down the info on missing items,” according to the non-profit.

The stolen artifacts include: a copper samovar (urn), a Mackie family artifact more than 120 years old, a silver tea service and three porcelain dishes.

About a week prior, two weed eaters and a leaf blower were also stolen from the Mackie House garage, according to the non-profit.

The Mackie Lake House is a charitable non-profit and the house is filled with artifacts and archival documents relating to the Mackie family and to the late 19th and early 20th centuries in both Great Britain and Canada.

“We appreciate your support as we work to recover these historic objects,” according to the non-profit.

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP could not be immediately reached for comment.
