iN VIDEO: Kamloops singer blows up stage with American Idol performance

In his top 24 performance in Hawaii, Cameron Whitcomb energized the American Idol crowd with his performance of "Bad Moon Rising".

The singer from Kamloops injected a dose of adrenaline to the Creedence Clearwater Revival classic, as he bounced and flipped around the stage on Monday night's episode.

"I understand why you have to flip," judge Katy Perry said. "If you don't get a burst of energy out, Lionel and I think you might just blow up."

He displayed his signature backflip again at the end of his performance, as he did in his audition for the show.

"All I'm going to say is, that was his first song," said judge Lionel Richie. "If I could get you to calm down and spread that over an hour-and-a-half of actual show business, you've got something."

Judges Perry, Richie and Luke Bryan will determine who moves forward from the top 24 performances in Hawaii into the next top 20.

The next episode will air on ABC and CityTV on Sunday, April 17.
