Kelowna elementary school evacuated due to threat

A Kelowna elementary school was evacuated this morning due to a potential threat.

Officers responded to a threat made to Quigley Elementary just before noon today, April 4, according an RCMP press release.

Out of an abundance of caution, the school was evacuated as police investigate the incident, police said.

Parents have been asked by school administrators to pick up their children from a nearby location. School is expected to resume as usual tomorrow.

"We take these calls very seriously, and we are committing our resources to ensure the safety of the children and our community," Kelowna RCMP investigative services officer Insp. Beth McAndie said in the release.

RCMP are not disclosing what the threat was as the investigation is ongoing at this time.
