New wildfire discovered east of Highway 97A

B.C. Wildfire Service crews are responding to a new wildfire east of Highway 97A this afternoon.

Wildfire information officer Aydan Coray said the fire was recently discovered and some crews are on site while others are travelling to it.

She didn't yet have an update on the size of the fire but estimated it's roughly five kilometres to the east of the highway.

According to B.C. Wildfire's active wildfire map, it is roughly eight km away from Armstrong.

The fire is located on the Baker Forest Service Road and has been named the Glaznier Creek wildfire by the service.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
