Despite a ground search, no sign of a missing 83-year-old Coldstream man with Alzheimers. Robert Lee Baines went missing from his home on Ponderosa Way in Coldstream https://infotel.ca/newsitem/rcmp-ask-for-help-to-find-missing-elderly-coldstream-man/it102461 around 6 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, according to an RCMP press release. RCMP members and Vernon Search and Rescue volunteers have conducted a ground search including a search of Kalamalka Provincial Park and have not located Baines. Police say he was recently diagnosed with Alzheimers and may appear disoriented or confused when approached. His family is concerned for his well being. “We are now asking residents in the area of Ponderosa Way and the red and yellow gate areas of Kalamalka park to review home security footage if they have it and thoroughly check their properties for any sings of Mr. Baines," Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Chris Terleski said in the release.  "Look under porches, under and inside all bushes, hedges etc., and check any outbuildings such as sheds or garages, as well as boats and recreational vehicles." RCMP describe Baines as a 83-year-old male, 5’9” tall, 200 lb. with a bald head and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a green jacket, grey undershirt, blue jeans, white hiking shoes and a green Tilly hat. Anyone with information is asked to contact Vernon North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171.
