Prominent former Kamloops radio host dies

A former Kamloops radio host and DJ has died.

“I just need to let you know my dad Stan Bailly passed away peacefully today,” said daughter Danielle Bailly, in a Facebook post, last night, Dec. 19.

Bailly was a former morning show host for 98.3 CIFM and performed as a DJ for large events and private parties. One of his more notable events was a private party for Shania Twain, according to his website.

“Every time I hear the Rolling Stones, KISS, the Beatles and just, well, all the music I will remember all the dancing we did and all the DJ gigs you would take us to when you had set up all your equipment to play for someone's celebration… And when you tried to teach me the guitar but ended up just playing me some tunes,” Danielle wrote.

Friends and family also offered their condolences online.

“He started his radio career in Williams Lake at CKWL, and along with being a radio personality, he was in an amazing rock band playing all over the Cariboo,” Alan Forseth wrote.

He retired from radio in 2018.
