Serious collision shuts down Highway 97 at Monte Lake

Highway 97 on the way to Kamloops from Vernon is closed in both directions after a serious collision this morning. The crash took place in the 3800 block of Highway 97 in Monte Lake between Buff Frontage Road and Mill Road about 22 kilometres west of Falkland and 19 km east of Monte Creek. Officers with the BC Highway Patrol and Vernon RCMP are responding, according to an RCMP media release. Detours are available via Highway 1, Highway 97, Highway 97A, Highway 97B. No word with the highway will reopen to traffic or if anyone was killed or injured in the crash. For updates on the highway closure go to DriveBC here http://www.drivebc.ca .
