Shooting in downtown Penticton prompts RCMP to ask for video surveillance

A video of a vehicle of interest has already been shared with police after a shooting in Penticton, and they are appealing to the public for more footage.

The shooting happened during the early hours yesterday, April 11, on Westminster Avenue West near the downtown area, according to an RCMP news release.

“Thanks to area residents we have observed a vehicle of interest captured on their doorbell camera,” Penticton RCMP media relations officer Const. Dayne Lyons said in the release.

“Police are still canvassing the area and following up on tips. We kindly ask that anyone with cameras, doorbell cams, 24/7 in-car dash cams, et cetera, of the area to review their systems for the hours of 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. that morning and to contact police if they captured anything suspicious.”

The investigation so far has led police to believe the shooting was targeted and say the public is not at risk.

RCMP do not say if anyone was injured nor do they provide any information about the circumstances of the shooting.
