A person going through a mental health crisis lead to a standoff with Kamloops RCMP this past weekend.

Officers were called to a home on Springview Place in Sahali at around 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, according to an RCMP media release.

“Due to the reported presence of firearms at the residence, multiple officers attended and were able to convince the person to safely exit the home,” Kamloops RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

The person was taken into custody under the Mental Health Act and taken to the hospital for assessment.
