Stolen truck recovered in Kamloops after firearm report

Multiple officers searched for a suspect and firearms near a Kamloops beach on Sunday afternoon.

No firearms were found, but police tracked down two men and recovered a stolen truck during the investigation.

Kamloops RCMP responded to the 100-block of Tranquille Road around 5:30 p.m., Oct. 9, where a witness reported a man carrying a long gun was running toward the beach, according to a news release.

The witness reported the man was associated with a blue truck in the area, which police quickly found.

Two suspects returning to the truck turned back toward the truck, but fled toward the nearby bush when they were confronted by police.

Police said one of the suspects was found and arrested under Overlanders Bridge "shortly after."

No firearms were found after the area was searched by officers and a police dog, according to the release.

The release did not say whether the second suspect was found, but police were able to confirm the blue truck had been stolen from the 1300-block of Kootenay Way.

Police also did not say when the truck was stolen.

Anyone who witnessed or has information related to this incident is asked to contact the Kamloops RCMP detachment at 250-828-3000 and reference file 2022-36206.
