TOO COLD: Canada Post deliveries delayed in Kamloops and Kelowna

People in Kamloops and Kelowna were told by Canada Post yesterday to expect delayed deliveries and those delays can be expected again today.

Yellow alerts, issued for the two cities due to inclement weather and extreme cold, remain in effect today, Dec. 21. You can check out the list of service alerts here.

“Yellow means that we are going to do our best, but there may be delays due to inclement weather and the snow,” Canada Post spokesperson Lisa Liu said in an emailed statement.

Not great timing for those counting on the postal system to deliver anything to their loved ones in time for Christmas.

Environment Canada issued extreme cold warnings for much of the B.C. Interior yesterday and again today with temperatures expected to feel like -40 Celsius with windchill.

“While our delivery agents are doing their best to deliver through these difficult weather conditions, severe winter elements pose a safety risk to our employees – and others,” Liu wrote.

“We are asking Canadians to keep a clear path home by clearing snow and ice from your walkways, stairs, and driveways, and around your mailbox.”
