Two people killed in Chase trailer fire

A trailer fire in Chase on Friday claimed two lives.

Adams Lake Fire Department, B.C. Ambulance Services and Chase RCMP responded to a report of a fire on the Adams Lake Reserve at 11:46 p.m. April 8, but by the time they arrived, the structure was fully engulfed in flames, according an RCMP media release issued today, April 11.

Kyle Daniel Phelps, 49, and his partner Nikki Mueller died in the blaze, according to a social media post.

"Tragically, human remains were discovered after the fire was extinguished," the release says. "The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation however there is no evidence to indicate that the cause of the fire was suspicious in nature."

The case is currently under investigation by Chase RCMP, the Adams Lake Fire Department and B.C. Coroners Service, with the latter conducting its own fact finding investigation into the incident.

“Our thoughts are with the victims’ families at this difficult time,” the release says.
