Vernon RCMP reunite owner with stolen mobility trike

With the use of surveillance footage, Vernon RCMP managed to track down a mobility tricycle stolen from outside a Vernon residence last week.

The three-wheeled tricycle was reunited with its owner after it was stolen from a residence in the 2900-block of 43 Avenue at around noon Dec. 9.

According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release, police got a call around 1 p.m. saying the mobility trike had been stolen.

However, the theft had been captured by video surveillance on the outside of the building.

Police then identified the suspect from the footage, and with the help of the public located and seized the stolen tricycle.

"In this case, both the assistance provided by a member of the public as well as the determined effort of our frontline officers are what led to the recovery of the stolen tricycle," Vernon RCMP Const. Chris Terleski said in the media release. "We are incredibly happy to have been able to recover the item and return it to the rightful owner."

The RCMP says no arrest has yet been made and the file is currently under investigation.
