Weapons call prompts heavy police response in downtown Kamloops
Heavily-armed cops made an arrest at a downtown Kamloops motel this afternoon. RCMP were called to Canada's Best Value Inn downtown motel today, April 17, where a damaged red Dodge Ram was under supervision by officers until it could be towed. The lifted truck with at least two smashed windows and a flat tire was loaded onto a flat deck. Police haven't provided many details about the investigation, but Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said the police action was the result of a weapons report. The Southeast District Emergency Response Team was called in to assist with the arrest due to potential dangers. It's not clear if the motel is related to the investigation. More information is expected to be released by RCMP later today.
