911 lines down in South and Central Okanagan

The 911 emergency phone line is currently down in the South Okanagan and Central Okanagan.

According to an E-Comm 911 media release the emergency line is not functioning and the cause of the disruption is unknown.

"Technicians are working with Telus to determine the root cause and restore service as soon as possible," the release says.

It wasn't any more specific about where 911 calls won't work.

E-Comm is advising anyone in the South and Central Okanagan that may need to call 911 to instead call their local police non-emergency.

It also asks people to leave non-emergency lines free for emergency callers, so not to call with non-urgent matters currently.

E-Comm the 911 service is functioning normally in the rest of the province.

All police non-emergency numbers can be found here.
