Couple walking dog find body in Thompson River in Kamloops

Kamloops RCMP are trying to identify a man whose body was found in the Thompson River yesterday evening.

Police, firefighters and the B.C. Coroners Service arrived at the 2000 block of Mission Flats Road yesterday, April 25, where a couple found a body in shallow water while walking their dog, according to a an RCMP news release.

“Although the investigation is ongoing, the cause of death appears to be non-criminal at this time,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said in the release.

Although police have not deemed the investigation to be criminal, the Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit arrived at the scene along the Thompson River when the couple called around 7 p.m.

According to RCMP, the B.C. Coroners Service and police are separately investigating the circumstances around the man's death.
