Knox Mountain Park development plan and expansion heads to Kelowna city council

A developer plans to build residential and commercial space next to Knox Mountain Park in Kelowna, and has submitted a rezoning application to city council. The city approved the first phase of the 10-acre development by Lamont Land with assistance from Placemark Design and now the second phase is heading to council on Oct. 8. Placemark Design is the same company developing another 652 acres in the city’s north end near Lake Country. The developer first submitted the rezoning plan back in April but now city staff have reviewed it and prepared their supportive recommendation.  READ MORE: Plan in the works for 652-acre neighbourhood in Kelowna's north-end https://infotel.ca/inhome/plan-in-the-works-for-671-acre-neighbourhood-in-kelownas-north-end/it104736 The plan is to put townhomes, an apartment building and a mixed-use building with commercial spaces on Cara Glen Way. Lamont Land also plans to add more than five acres to Knox Mountain Park. The development will build a total of 94 units, so Lamont Land is putting $188,000 dollars into a reserve fund so there is money available to ensure the infrastructure around the development can support the extra use without using taxpayer dollars. Since the development fits the city’s Official Community Plan goals of densifying housing and expanding parkland city staff have recommended council support the rezoning necessary for the project.
