Man suffers head injury after assault at Kamloops motel

Kamloops RCMP responded to a Valleyview motel this morning for an assault with a weapon.

Officers were called to the 1800 block of the Trans Canada Highway frontage road just before 5 a.m., Aug. 30, according to a news release.

Paramedics took a man to hospital after he was found to be suffering from a head injury. Police didn't describe his injury nor what type of weapon investigators believe was used.

Police say he's expected to recover, but he is not cooperating with the investigation.

“Officers, including members of the General Investigations Support Team and Forensic Identification Services Unit, were in the area as part of the ongoing investigation, which includes collecting evidence and canvassing the neighbourhood for witnesses and video, to help determine the cause of the injury and what transpired,” Cpl. Crystal Evelyn of Kamloops RCMP said in the release.
