Penticton brewery hosting memorial for beloved Kevin the Goose
People can raise a glass to Kevin the Goose at a memorial and fundraiser in Penticton this weekend. Kevin the Goose died last weekend and he was, by all accounts, a friendly creature and fixture beloved by Penticton residents. "We’ve hosted many fundraisers at our brewery. This one, believe it or not, is personal as my toddler daughters and husband had formed a bond with Kevin over the years,” Slackwater co-founder Kelsey Peyton said in a media release. “We met Kevin often on our beach walks, and his impact on the community has truly resonated. I’m sure there will be some tall tales, and feathers, as we raise a glass to Kevin the Goose on Sunday.” READ MORE: Penticton mourns iconic and friendly goose https://infotel.ca/newsitem/penticton-mourns-iconic-and-friendly-goose/it104046 Part of the proceeds from sales during the memorial will go to the Interior Wildlife Rehabilitation Society. Artist Kindrie Grove is going to do a live art painting at the brewery inspired by a photo of Kevin taken by Steve Heer. The painting is going to be on display at the Aurora Matheson Fine Art Gallery across from the brewery. “The wild spaces and creatures we share this planet with face ever-increasing pressure from habitat loss and other threats. Contributing to the fundraiser for the Interior Wildlife Rehabilitation Society is a small way that my work can help, and I am happy to participate in the creation of a painting of Kevin, the Canada Goose,” Grove said in the release. The Interior Wildlife Rehabilitation Society, located in Oliver, is a non-profit dedicated to peaceful coexistence with wildlife in the Okanagan. The celebration of life for Kevin the Goose https://www.facebook.com/events/1160585071768731/ goes at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 6..
