Weapons raid results in arrest of Vernon man

A 35-year-old Vernon man has been charged with 15 weapons-related offences following a police raid at a home in the 3700-block of 25 Avenue.

Brandon Tarl Wilson will appear in court today, Jan. 7, and may face more charges related to the seizure of multiple weapons.

According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release, in the early hours of Jan. 6, the RCMP executed a warrant at a residence in the 3700 block of 25 Avenue and seized a number of firearms and firearms-related items.

A 9 mm firearm, a .22 calibre rifle, two handguns, a large quantity of ammunition and several prohibited firearm silencers were found in the home.

"These firearms present a real and serious threat to the safety of our community," Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Chris Terleski said in the release.

"This seizure comes (as) a result of the hard work and dedication of our officers in keeping our community safe. Any time we take guns off our streets and out of the hands of criminals, it’s a win for our community."

Police say the investigation into the results of the search is ongoing and once complete more charges may be put forward.
