Suspects arrested in West Kelowna armed robbery

A man and a woman were arrested yesterday in connection to a closing time armed robbery at business in West Kelowna last week.

Officers were called to a report of an armed robbery at around 11 p.m. Thursday, March 3, in the 1100 block of Stevens Road in West Kelowna, according to an RCMP media release.

“A male suspect allegedly entered the store at closing and brandished a firearm, threatening two employees,” Kelowna RCMP media liaison officer Cpl. Tammy Lobb said in the release. “The suspect then robbed the store of an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise before fleeing.”

RCMP do not identify the business.

Police, including members the heavily-armed emergency response team,  executed a search warrant at a hotel in the 1500 block of Highway 33 in Kelowna yesterday, March 10, taking a man and women into custody without incident.

The pair face charges, but RCMP do not say in the release what charges were recommended to Crown counsel nor do they say if the suspects remain in custody.
