Another dog seen riding on back of flatbed pickup in Kelowna

Another person was spotted in the Central Okanagan driving around with a dog tied to the back of their flatbed truck.

Somebody else was just reported to a local Facebook group for doing the same thing earlier this weekend.

Both drivers were reported to the Facebook page Shaming Drivers of the Okanagan.

Dani Hearns told iNFOnews.ca she was driving along Highway 97 today, April 3, when she noticed a man with a dog tied to the back of his flatbed truck. She said he drove behind her for about a kilometre before they both pulled into the Denny's parking lot.

She said the driver appeared to be a man in his early 20s with a female passenger. They drove around the lot and left without parking.

The dog and truck both appear similar to the ones that were recorded earlier this weekend. But upon closer inspection, one dog appears to be darker, and the vehicles have different license plates, bumpers and backracks.

“It’s sad to know how many people do this to their dogs honestly,” Hearns said.

Transporting an unsecured pet in the back of a pickup truck violates Section 72 of the B.C. Motor Vehicle Act.

A message left with the RCMP was not immediately returned.
