A fire that destroyed one tent and damaged two others at Kelowna’s overnight tenting site is deemed suspicious. Kelowna Fire Department was called at just after 1 a.m. today, Jan. 11, to the fire in the 800 block of Weddell Place. “The first arriving officer reports a large tent fire spreading quickly,” a Kelowna Fire Department news release said. “Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire. One tent was completely destroyed with two neighboring tents damaged.” There were no injuries to residents or firefighters. The blaze is under investigation. “The Kelowna Fire Department would like to thank the public for being vigilant in reporting fires quickly,” the news release says. Two fire engines, a command truck and nine personnel responded to the call.
