Budget documents going to West Kelowna city council next week project a property tax increase of 11.41% next year.
That’s in line with a 10.8% tax hike the City of Kamloops is considering but more than twice the 4.75% provisional budget Kelowna city council adopted yesterday, Dec. 7.

“This proposed increase is substantial and has not been taken lightly by management with considerable mitigation efforts to bring it down,” the report to council says.
The proposed increase includes a base budget hike of 5.24% and a 3% increase for reserves.
Council will debate the budget on Dec. 12 and Dec. 13.
